West Indies Collapse, Adrian Barath Rises

As with all the other Test series since I moved to Barbados, I'm particularly glad this morning to be running DirecTV instead of cable; because, if I had cable, I would have gotten SportsMax; and paid every month for it; and not watched any of it except Wimbledon & West Indies cricket; so I would have paid a fair bit every month to watch the occasional cut-ass.
Better, I think, to have saved my money and my psyche; especially with the current dose of cut-ass being administered Down Under. Instead of staying up late for the agony, live, I just wake up in the morning from a sleep undisturbed by dreadful cricket, and catch up with the catastrophe on the Net.
The Adrian Barath century was the only good thing in three days of cricket for the West Indies. We might have a better performance if he plays Australia alone in the second Test.
If the gifted sight-reading musician can look at a musical score and hear, in delight, the symphony in his head, the dullest statistician can look at a West Indies scorecard and feel the horror in his bone marrow. If you want a horrible firsthand lesson in exactly what I mean, go to Cricinfo and check the fall of wickets in the second innings. Sharpen your razor blade first.

"Hope" is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all,
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
I've heard it in the chillest land
And on the strangest sea,
Yet never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me. -----------------------------------

And to be sure, this performance was extremely poor, but I saw a few things to take hope from.
1-Adrian Barath was outstanding - nothing to add there.
2-Ramdin was first rate behind the stumps and his batting was assured. He needs to stay focussed longer.
3-Roach was very good in only his 3rd test. He'll get much better.
4-There was no Fidel and virtually no Taylor (and no Sarwan) and our bench is weak so it wasn't so bad as the final result seemed - to be clear, the final result felt like the apocalypse!!! With Fidel back I reckon our attack will bowl sides out. Esp since Big Ben is being persevered with.
5-Bravo's 2nd innings' dotishness was so embarrassing it have no way he go do dat again!
So to be clear - will we win a game down under? Hell no! But I'll wager it won't be so lopsided for the other 2. And besides, wuh yuh did expect? The board still think is fete match we playing.
