My pardner Gregors, recently a house-guest and guest-blogger, returned to Trinidad and to his hobby/habit of dispatching pointed letters to the press. I’m not sure this one will make the letters page cut of any paper in Trinidad, since it is one of those you have to think about for a millisecond or two; and most of the people who choose which letters are published are so busy – like anyone with a job nowadays – that they might hit the “delete” button before the joke hits them.
So, for the same reason I admire Dwayne Bravo’s slower ball, appreciate how subtly it so often takes the middle stump, here is Gregors, coming around the wicket, to send one right up into the block-hole of Trini police.
Dear Sir,
I am a great admirer of the works of art displayed on the outer walls of the Queen’s Park Oval. I think it is a fantastic way to bring these wonderful pieces to the attention of the ordinary citizen.
I would now like to suggest that we broaden the programme and have these local artists paintings also displayed on the walls of our police stations. They would go so well with the statues already there.
